Start off a bit slower. See if he will tolerate you being in the same room first. Move closer slowly but stop before he looks nervous. When he is perfectly happy with you being right next to him, then try to give him treats. It may take longer than you expect, you may have to be patient.

I have a trust building question. Saki is doing better with us. Everyday I open the cage and she comes out to the top of it. If I cover my hand she will climb on my covered hand. Then she climbs to my shoulder and preens my hair. She also does this with the children. But no skin can be showing on the hand. I can not get her to take treats from my hand. She also will not eat anything but millet, pellets, and seeds. She likes to nibble on my ear, and my moles on my neck. Not sure how to get her to stop that. Over the last 2-3 days she and I have made lots of progress with me covering my hand. She even gave herself a bath in her water dish which I immedaitely changed the water of course, so it would be fresh. She plays with er toys now. Before she just didn't seem to care for them. She also likes chasing shoe laces. Like a cat in that one. I am making her a new swing since the one I got she doesn't like. It's too small. Which I didn't realize cause when I bought it it said it was for lovebirds.

So my question is, how long should I cover my hand for? And How do I get her to stop chewing on my moles. The ear nibbling tickles and it only happens after I give her kisses. Which she loves kisses. Beak to mouth. Is she kissing me back? I know she is a baby. And as soon as I can I will be getting her pic posted.

Thank you all for the help. I've never had a bird this young before. It's a very new experience for me.:blue2:

ParrotGuy In your post you sound a little frustrated with your bird. Important to remember that birds are very sensative to what you are thinking and feeling. I call it your energy. It might be good if you could examine further why you think your bird is afriad of you. Mabye you are giving negative energy (frustration) or have movements that are too fast. Gaining the trust of your bird takes much time and energy and patience.
