Parker - male Eclectus
Aphrodite - red throated conure (RIP)
I'm a beaming papa two sessions ago Parker made his first flight in his flight training (as opposed to a big step across the training perches). Today I changed it up and started teaching him to fly to me. I replaced the command "target", with the dual command "come" and the return command "perch". We're no Stephen/Stephen/Mark, but we're doing well!
To ensure positive association with returning to the perch, he doesn't get rewarded until he completes the circuit and goes back to the perch. No treat for coming to me only. He has caught on very quickly! This video below is a snippet of the session.
Stephen you werent kidding! Things are accelerating. He's flying more readily every day. He's still flitting, no serious wing flapping flights yet, but that may come in a week or two.
