Bite pressure training or step up training

I've been having a hard time with Jordan my lovebird. I've hand tamed her, kind of. She will let me pet her and she no longer runs away from my hand. But should I do bite pressure training or step up next? I don't know which one is best done first. I've never had to bite pressure train any of my birds because they never really bit. But Jordan breaks skin, and always gets under my nails. She doesn't like sitting on my fingers, and prefers to sit in my hand for head scratches. I HAND tamed her not FINGER tamed her. She's terrified of fingers, but loves sitting in my hand. She even falls asleep in my hand.

I'm just giving your post a boost, since I don't know the answer.
I never did either of those; hence, the Rb is a monster.
Good luck!

Both. No need for it to be an either/or proposition, as the two aren't mutually exclusive. Just make sure to work on getting your LB to actually want to come to your hand, which will, in turn, cut down on the number of bites received.

Re: Bite pressure training or step up training

Honestly, never bite pressure trained a bird, didn't know it was a "thing". I HAVE bite pressure trained my dogs and it worked fabulously. When training the dogs for bite pressure, it was while doing other training too, so would think it would be the same with birds.
