Shoulder Flying Problem

We are having noticing some common behavior from Lala. Personally I am not comfortable with her flying to my shoulder uninvited. She's really warmed up to me but she obviously prefers muy husband...and that's ok. Wehaven't had her long and I'm not ENTIRELY comfortable with her on my shoulder and like a dope I let her go on my shoulders without stopping her and then decided I didn't like it. My bad 😳 plus my husband let's her all the time. All without...being allowed to. I don't mind this if I completely trust her...which I do not. How could I? Honestly...a couple times I've felt no pressure beak...most I think we're something I wad ignorant to. Or I misunderstood. But. In short the trust is not there for that privilege. How do I stop her from A* flying over without an invite and B* prevent her from going to my shoulder. For now until I invite her when wev are both ready.

The shoulder thing is a must that we must learn. Even if it takes years (though I hope it doesn't) because my bff comes over and is comfortable talking to her and playing and just standing near her but it's not comfortable with her on her shoulder. She would be ok with step up onto hands but a bite to the the finger is different than to the ear or eye.

I've tried googling this but I'm not really finding the answers to anything....

I had this problem when I was looking after a tiel for a week. He hated me but wanted the shoulder, so would bite and scratch all the way up my arm to the shoulder and would bite at my ear. I dropped my elbow down to stop him running up which helped.

May sound silly but just try to make it that she can't get on your shoulders. quickly putting your hands there if you hear or see her about to go towards you? It's really good you've identified that she is not to be trusted yet. I learnt the hard way with my conure, though his game was sticking his claw in my ear. Also shouting in it. I would actually take my t-shirt off to get him off my shoulder

Oh man I both would hurt!! I cringed especially with the shouting!

Lala has scratched twice on my shoulder but it was her trying to communicate she wanted me to walk to the window with her to look out. Wowza. Terrible.

yeah, people describe Green cheeks as "quiet" try having one stick its beak into your ear and then letting out a shriek. I've done live music a number of times and I would rather hold my ear up against large speaker getting feedback than have a conure scream in my ear

Part of he key to flying with/without an invite is to put flying on cue. Teach Lala flighted recall, which by its nature is flying on invitation for a reward. Within the training sessions, lala will invariably fly to you without you calling her. These are the moments that will correct what you hare currently experiencing. When she comes without being called during these training sessions, she doesn’t get treats and immediately put back on the training stand.

They key here is the structure. As things are now, you could simply keep putting her back on her cage/stand where she flew from but it would be a little hard for her to understand why she is being put back, and might take longer for her to stop. With the training she inherently learns why she’s being put back: because you didn’t call her like you previously do. WAIT FOR THE CUE AND ILL GET A DELICIOUS REWARD!
