I have a budgie, he loves playing with bells and watching me on the computer while i'm drawing. Always making sure to stop in for cuddles every couple seconds he is adorable. His name is tinker.
Hello i have a budgie i'm wanting my budgie to learn how to step up
he will eat from my hand and allow me to "Sometimes" touch his belly.
But he doesn't like belly touching and i'm scared to push it or brake his trust
we've already come ineradicable far given it's his first week home.

So i'm going back to just letting him eat from my hand and do as he pleases
for a little while longer. But i'm now wanting to use the clicker because what iv'e been doing is giving him millet every time he lets me get closer or pet him.
But i'm fearing using the clicker because i don't want to change the routine to much. I'm also nervous that maybe i'm doing it wrong any advice?

This has been my first bird iv'e done a lot of research on my own so far
but there is something about speaking to someone who also owns birds
inside text that makes me feel a lot more relaxed and confident in myself, so that's why i'm asking around.

I have one Umbrella, a Bare Eye, and two budgies.
You sound like a very devoted person and that is one very lucky parakeet.

When I had a male budgie years ago it took longer than one week for him to step up. In fact it took months of me talking to him, whistling to him, and putting my finger up to his tummy.

Yes, he would try to bite at first when he really didn't know me but after awhile he realized that I wasn't a predator who was going to hurt him. I don't think you will lose his trust if you are consistent but patient with him.
