Two parakeets. Kindle and Charlie
I want to know how to teach my two parakeets to saty with me instead of flying back to there cage. I really want them to like sit on my arm together in my bed before i go to sleep and just hang out. But any time i try to sit down with them in bed or at my desk or anything they just fly back to there cage. I also want to tame them to touch so I can pet them and do the trick where they like lay on there back in your hand.

Okay since posting this earlier today I have been working with my two little babies. Kindle steps up really well but she is still pretty scared of me. I got Charlie to step up a little outside the cage. He still is really scared of me and even though he steps up he flies back to his cage immediatly. I have made a big step foward atleast in my opinion. I still would like some replies with tips with kind of like methods of getting them to trust me more and not fly back to ther cage all the time. Tips, methods, and help. that is what I am looking for to make my bond with my birds better and my birds lifes more active.

What I would suggest is making sure that being on you and out of the cage is a lot of fun. Have favorite treats available in your hand to them. Anything else they seem to really love associate with being out of the cage with you. Perhaps only give them their favorite treats while out of the cage and with you.

One thing I find is working with Chia is taking her out and putting her underneath my chin while she is on my hand. This is a warm and "safe-feeling" place it seems.

Here are a few links as well:

Personally I have no experience taming Budgies, Hopefully someone else with more experience will help you out :) Maybe just do some reading around google for now and try different things. Make it fun and good luck!

I just tried the first link and it said to cup your bird in your hands and pull them into your body till they calm down then pet them and calm them. I tried that and could not catch charlie at all. So i tried it with my nicer one and I got him and pulled him in and he started squaking like an alarm so I stopped cause I didnt want to undermine my whole traing the second link would not come up and I dont know about the third. Thankyou.

Yes like I said I don't have any experience with budgies but you could type "how to tame a budgie" in google and see what comes up and what works for you. I don't really think holding them until they are calm down is the greatest method :S Sorry for the not-so-great links!
