Hey guys itā€™s me again! I would like to ask you how I can train and tame my bird. As I said on the previous post I am a new parakeet owner so I donā€™t know much about that cute little creatures and I would really like to know so that he can have a great life as much as possible. And yeah he is a male at last :)

Start by everyday just keeping your hand for around 20 minutes in the cage to let the budgie know your hand is not a predator or something repeat this for 5 days or a week, after that week you can try to learn him to step up by slowly putting your finger towards him if he runs or jumps away slowly keep following him untill he steps up when he steps up put him down on the perch again and keep repeating the steps so he can get the feel of it.

Go forums tab here or use the search window on youtube.com. For instance, Building Trust with your Parrot through Step Up Training by Manda and Rio or How to TAME and BOND with your Budgie of Budgie World or search under wingsNpaws; these work with most species. Just before mealtimes is best and same time consistency with patience is the key. jh
