Anyone know anything I can put preferably fully over my carpet in a place I'm renting to protect it like soft or even more like a hard tile or plastic? But mainly something that would be safe if a bird chewed on and also doesn't offgas

Help! I don't know what to do! I'm moving into an apartment tomorrow and we got the keys tonight. They put in new carpet and there is still a pretty strong smell. I'm thinking I'm going to go back and start running the air purifier I just got overnight. Will this help? Will my eclectus be okay...
