1st Time in an Aviation Harness!

Since today was a beautiful, sunny day on the Central Coast of California, I thought it would be a good time to start Fiji's aviator harness training, and take him outside for a walk. I got the "petite" size, which is the smallest size they make. I was worried it would be too small for Fiji, even though he is a small GCC. For the past 2 weeks, I've been letting him play with the harness, draping it on him, etc so he wouldnt be TOO freaked out when I finally put it on him. It took my hubby and I about 15 mins to slowly put it on him, letting him take his time and giving lots of treats and pets. The hardest part is getting his head thru the loop. After that, it was easy! At first he tried to bite the harness, but once I put him up on my shoulder and we went outside, he settled down and enjoyed the beautiful day! We walked down the street to a little park and lounged around on the grass for a while, he seemed to enjoy it! Here is a pic of him, looking so handsome in his harness!

Glad he enjoyed being out.... Wilbur doesn't much like his harness, but he knows it means going outside for a while so he puts up with it.

Oh, I'm sure Fiji wasnt loving the harness either, but I'm hoping he realizes that when he has it on, he gets to go outside and for car rides!

What size harness do you use for Wilbur?

I bought it a while back...I think it was a small? He's pretty little!

Thanks for sharing the pictures! I've been thinking of getting one for my sun conure so I can take him outside again now that his flight feathers are grown.

Does your conure seem comfortable in the harness? That is one of my major concerns in making the purchase.

So adorable! Looks like my Basil I have been thinking about getting the flight suit (mainly for the poop catching aspect) and its nice to see another little GCC out and about happily. :3

I'm sure over time he will learn to love it!

BoomBoom, when I first put it on him, he didnt like it, and struggled a little to get it off. But when I took him outside, he seemed to forget all about the horrible harness and started looking around at everything! i think the trick is to take their minds off it. I'm sure he will struggle a little every time I put it on him, but it's for his own good.

BTW, i love all the pics of your adorable sun conure, he is a DOLL! He seems to be very happy with you, and I can tell he is as spoiled as my Fiji.

If you get your sun conure a harness, don't get the "petite" size, it will be too small.
