Hey guys,

So my Fischer lovebird Popeye is doing really well but he’s still very nervous if I try to pet him. ( He is not hand raised) He will eat from my hand (millet). I was wondering if I got a hand raised lovebird in a separate cage, could it help Popeye feel more at ease seeing a friend being held and pet etc..?

Well, birds are flock animals, and they learn from watching other birds. This would probably help, at least a little bit. But you can't buy another bird just for this reason. You need to make sure you want one for yourself. Bringing home a new pet means making a very important promise to them-and you can never break that promise.
If you know you want another lovie anyway, I wouldn't say "go ahead", but you can consider getting another bird in that situation. Of course, if this is an important factor in why you would get another lovebird, that's okay.
