A broken heart....

My beautiful little Wilbur is with us no more... On Friday night, I went out with my son and, while we were gone, my husband accidentally left the cage door open, the dog in the room, and went to work out...
I am just devastated... Wilbur was the most incredible little bird, he had such character and meant the world to me... we were SO bonded and I just feel this emptiness.
My husband feels terribly guilty and I don't want to make it worse for him...but every time I think about my little guy, I just cry...

I just want to say thank you for the sympathy and kindness... My house feels so very empty without his cheerful and quirky personality lighting it up.
Of any pet i have ever had, Wilbur was just so much more a part of my heart than any...as much as I loved them all, he was different.

Im really sorry. I. Going through a very tough situation with my conure at the moment. He got hurt last week leaving him with two puncture wounds on his forehead and left cheek. He bleed from his one of his nostrils and his left eye, which we believe is blind from the incident. I'm so bonded with that little bird that if he were to die I would be devistated and broken. I don't know what I'll do. I'll probably cry myself for the whole week. I agree with one of the people here said "only bird owners understand the hole that these guys leave when they've passed"

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. Last night I came home from work to find one of my sugar gliders dead on my bedroom floor. My vet student fed them, but the latch had not locked completely and the 3 got out. One of my dogs killed her, but the other 2 I found alive, scared to death hiding. I was and still am sick to my stomach. I can't get the picture of finding her like that out of my mind.

Dear Chippy, I'm so sorry to hear about Wilbur. I know your heart is broken and there is nothing to say right not to put it back together. Wilbur is flying free and had a beautiful life with you because you loved him so much.

To Kath and Gburchett. I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through now. Losing loved ones is devastating, whether they have feathers, fur, or just plain skin and hair.
