Hey! I haven't been on a forum in a few years, so please bear with me and my awkwardness.

My name is Britt. I'm twenty-two, from NYS and relatively new to flock life. I got my first bird about a year and a half ago, and today I have three budgies, a lutino cockatiel and two green cheek conures (one conure is a rescue). My flock has grown quickly, but I feel like I've found my calling in life. Nothing has ever made me feel so happy and so complete. I'm disabled and unable to work, so my flock has truly become my world. I'm home all day with them and they've been helping me not only to cope, but have improved my quality of life.
I post about them regularly on Instagram (my username there is also lullx).

I'm super happy to say that I'm also bringing home a baby Congo African Grey this summer! I go to meet my new baby next weekend (:

I'm hoping to make some birdnerd friends, as I don't really know anyone in my area who also has parrots and feels as strongly about them as I do.
I look forward to getting adjusted here and learning new things!

Hello and welcome Britt! We're happy you joined us! We'd love to see photos of your sweethearts.

Welcome!
I hope you have great time here in this forum.
Yes, we love pictures!

Welcome, glad to see another person around here passionate about parrots. The more the merrier ;)

Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes!
I'll be sure to post pictures soon. I take daily shots of my monsters, and even some videos. Can we have home threads of any sort? Kind of like a blog within the forums I guess. I want to be able to document everything once my grey comes home.

The layout here is a little confusing to get used to, but I hope to be active once I figure out how to not make a fool of myself.

It might be helpful to go to the very top and find a bar that starts with "Home"...the next one is "Forums". If you click on "Forums" it will give you a list of all forums available on this site. I think it's very helpful, IMHO. You will be surprised how many different forums are here.
Sometimes when I am short on time I just go straight to the forum called "Amazons", as I have only zons...... :). Most of the time I'll just check in to "New Posts"......
I am sure you will feel comfy here soon.

Welcome!
Making a fool of yourself is a God given talent, for me, for sure!

Well then, glad you decided to join us again.....welcome back.....

Welcome to the forum, Britt!

As Torrap suggested, you're more than welcome to post about your fids in the species-specific sub-forum (whichever applies to whom you're posting about).

If you have any questions or need help, feel free to contact one of us mods (our usernames are purple) [emoji4]

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean this forum! I meant forums in general haha. This is my first time venturing onto this website (:

@Everyone else, thanks! Is there an easier way to check and see if my threads have gotten new replies? I've been clicking on "Active Topics" and scrolling down to look for this thread.
I'm usually quick to figure things out myself, but my Lucy has been harassing me. She loves/hates my laptop and that's slowing my progress.

EDIT: Whoops! Found the user control panel that lists my topics.

Lucy is a little beauty!

Thank you! She's quite the ham and very photogenic. She gets very excited when she sees my phone out and often sends little love letters to my friends, because my phone's touch screen is very sensitive to little bird feets and beaks.

Am I allowed to make some sort of post somewhere about all of my birds and post their pictures/stories of their antics there? Or is that limited to the photo albums?

The world needs to meet Genevieve.

Welcome to you and the flock from another Central New Yorker. :)

Thank you! Glad to see another parrot owner surviving this horrible winter.
I'm less than an hour away from Syracuse! I got my conure Genevieve from Ack's in Cicero last year and plan on making a trip out there again just for fun. We go to Syracuse semi regularly because my city is just... Sad.
Is there a parrot scene in CNY? Part of my reason for joining this forum was to try to find more local-ish people.

I may be familiar with your city, if it's within an hour of here. If it's east of Syracuse and starts with the letter U, I lived there for many years. :D

I visit Ack's regularly, sometimes just to visit with the birds.

I don't really know of any organized parrot-related activities or bird clubs around here; I'm told that there used to be a parrot club, but it seems to have fizzled out. I do often meet parrot people, and sometimes in unusual circumstances or places. :)

Haha yeah, that's the city! I don't like publicly listing my location for reasons.
I'd be willing to travel out to Syracuse regularly for a club. I used to have to go there every few weeks for doctors anyway.
My social anxiety would be the only thing keeping me away, really. So forums are ideal! Glad I found this one.

Visiting Ack's just to see the birds is how I met my conure Genevieve and fell in love with her. She was kind of an impulse buy, but I'm so so happy I decided to go through with it. I was hoping to go back there once the snow subsides to play with more birds and maybe pick up a few toys. I like supporting small business when I can, and Carl is great.

I grew up in your city, and spent a big part of my life there. Still have friends and family in the area. :)

I think Genevieve and I are old friends. :D I'm sure I met her at Ack's, and gave her scritches. The people at Ack's are great, and I often buy food and treats for my Quaker parrot Ralph at Ack's.

(Oh boo, my post got erased on me before I could post it!)

I've lived here my entire life, but almost moved away to Buffalo. I'll eventually get out of here. This place is toxic.

Genevieve was housed with a pineapple turquoise conure from her same clutch (so her brother or sister), who was so sweet! They were also caged with a sun conure who was very shy. I'd wished I had bought the turquoise as well, but I realize that I wouldn't have been able to handle two baby green cheeks well at the time ): I hope she went to a good home.

I wish Ack's was closer. I have to get my toys and food from Pet Supplies Plus or Petsmart. Can you suggest any reputable online stores to get bird supplies from?

My Safe Birstore is the first one I've been looking at. Just haven't figured out what exactly to buy from them.
I've also found one that has great reviews: A Bird Toy.

I'll check out that other one you've posted, despite the name being a little cringe-worthy haha.

Thank you!
