Over the years I have met some truly wonderful people on forums, some of which have become good friends. As many of you know I've had quite a few stresses the last couple of weeks. I own a Triumph motorcycle and have been on that forum for a few years. Someone had posted a picture of a Triumph pin he had found at a swap meet. I commented that I would like one as well. A member from that forum sent me one, and I received it yesterday. That kindness really meant a lot to me. I just wanted to share:)

To him it may have been a little thing, but it really made me feel better after all the stresses and dealing with it all on my own. Little kindnesses can do a lot for a person. It really helped to just take the stress away and make me feel like life is good again.

My life is kind of odd these days. I used to be a teacher and had 150+ students and 100 staff members I talked to every day. After I got sick, I had to leave my job. Then my bf left. And some of my long time friends couldn't deal with my illness either and disappeared as well. Another friend is dealing with her own health issues and between us we don't get together much.

So I really appreciate all the new friends I've made via the internet. And being able to share common interests. Some have even come to visit. One comes for a week every summer and has taught me how to do a complete service on my motorcycle.

Awe, how nice : ) It's good to know there are still some really great and genuine people in the world....

Thats really nice. :) Its always good to know there are nice people out there willing to do nice gestures for others!

Roxy,

It's often the little things that make a big difference.
It sounds like you went through a very difficult transition in your life. Although you've lost some friends over the years, you've also made some great ones on these forums. And our beloved feathered companions are truly a blessing, aren't they? I can tell from reading so many of your posts, that Pete, Rowdy, and Ms. Merlin all love you very much. They are also very lucky to have such a loving, caring momma = )

Thanks so much, Lexx. It is tough dealing with a lot of life changes in a short period of time. I am so grateful to my fids, my cat and my horses. They give me a purpose to my life I wouldn't have otherwise. My mom seems worries that I spend my days talking to birds instead of people, lol! But, I do talk to a lot of people on the internet. I've met many people over the years that have common interests with me. I have met many in person as well. One called last night actually, who lives in California. We are about the same age and both started riding motorcycles at the same time. So that was our common link that allowed us to meet, and then we discovered we had a ton of other stuff in common as well. I'm hoping to get out to her house someday and ride the beautiful coastal highways of California.

I was very depressed when I first got sick, and then left my job and then broke up with my fiance. But, you know what? I'm happy these days most of the time. I still have moments when I'm really sick, but for the most part I have learned how to accept the changes in my life now.

Awwww!

I have experienced a few acts of kindness, such as this...I always remember to "pay it forward" when I can.

My most recent experience happened just before Christmas...my Clinton Anderson Rope Halter and Lead sets were stolen...2 of them! They're not cheap by any means and I was really bummed.

I posted on the CA forums to remind everyone to remember to keep all their tack locked up, EVEN the halters and leads.

2 weeks later, in my personal email box...were...not 1 but TWO people who'd emailed me and said they have an extra set they'd like to GIVE Me if I'd just send them my address!

:( Whaaahhhh! :( My spouse looked over at me crying and said, my gosh! what on earth...and I told him of these two wonderful people...I just NEVER expected that! EVER!

Just amazing!

Toni

That's a great story, Toni. It's amazing sometimes how kind a stranger can be, and yet some people treat their loved ones badly. People who love animals though also tend to be kind to people. I always kind of figure when I met someone who hates animals or kids that they probably aren't good to people either.

Roxy, I understand how you feel about your online friends. This forum is like a little pool of sanity where you can talk to others who have a common interest. I'm glad I stumbled across this place as it has saved me from pulling out my hair :p

We're always here for you. Don't ever forget it :)

Also, maybe it'd be a good idea for us to have a place where we can offer up our extra bird stuff to other members for free or a low price or just pay for shipping. We could all help each other out and have a little piece of each other to bring us closer. It's just a thought though.

Helitorian, I think that's a great idea. I probably have things sitting around that I'm not really using because whatever bird I bought it for doesn't like it. I was thinking I should box it all up and send it to a rescue.
