A rare appearance by Mr. Newt (and photos!) UPDATED!

I'm sure some of you have seen my prior posts about how I have been thinking about how to make a really cool cover for Mr. Newt's tank after seeing a vintage bamboo fish tank online. After having no luck finding the kind of bamboo I needed, I kind of had epiphany to just use natural branches from outside. I could literally smack myself in the head a million times for wasting so much time looking for bamboo, when the newt is more of a "woodland" type animal in the first place (thus a more woodsy feel to his tank would probably look better anyways). Anyways, I started constructing the framework today, and had to bring his tank out to the dining table to get accurate measurements before I cut the wood. Usually he's hidden under his log decoration, but he sure took notice that he wasn't where he normally is and came out to see what all I was up to with his home. He's so hard to photograph through glass, in the water and because he usually isn't in very bright light (they don't like bright lights). I got some AMAZING pictures of him and just had to share :D-

(His back looks like a rock, but he has a really pretty belly)

I'll post more pics of the tank when I'm done building the cover. I'm thinking it'll be amazing and totally unique, but it's going to take a few months to gather natural sticks and assemble;)

Those are great pics of Mr. Newt! I love his belly color. Thanks for sharing :)
I like the woodland house idea, and I can't wait to see it when you finally get it completed.

Oh, I have Newt Envy! He's a beautiful Newt and his colours are just stunning! He sure does look healthy, with nice, clear skin and shiny eyes and all. Might there ever be a Mrs Newt? Just imagine having a clutch of little newt tadpoles to play with! Oh! Newtness cuteness overload!

Please give Mr Newt a kiss from Aunty Trisha in Australia and tell him I think he's a Superior Newt. XXX :)

No Mrs. Newt in his near future. A second newt would require us to upgrade to a 10 gallon, as they need 5 gallons of aquarium per animal, which we don't have room for here. I also don't want to get into tank filters and vacuums and all that fancy stuff, but I know how to take his tank outside and give it a good scrubbing when it needs it:D Any bigger of a tank than he has now would be too heavy for me to take outside and rinse out when I clean it. I think he makes a great bachelor for now:54: But I will blow a kiss at him for you through the glass;)
