Well today was great, we ended up getting the wire and a nice setup for a door to make our outdoor aviary, prior to what I wanted to use I talked to a good friend of mine that has multiple aviary like cages made from GAW wire and she as had no issues for fifty years so I began to trust this much much more, as well with help from sodakat and many others..

So while talking to this lady she had mentioned well I have a 100ft roll and a door that was made using welded piping and then put the wire on it, she used them as replacements for her cages but had extras! So I now have all the wire and a door to use( I go up to her house and do behavioral work with her birds for nothing but the gas it takes me to get there so this was kind of her way of paying me back).

Now I just got to get the funding toghether to get the lumber and hardware to make it, it is going to be a octagon shaped aviary, we plan to use river stones as the bedding, we debated a concrete slab but decided against it. I think the rest of what we need other then the possible roof we would like to put on it will cost around $150- $200 so just need to put that money toghether and get this project rolling and hopefully have it for most of the summer!

Thanks everyone, hope everyone's day is going great.

Wonderful news! If she's had the wire a while it will already be aged and that is a huge bonus!

An octagon sounds interesting but I don't understand why. How wide will each panel be? If they are the same width as the height of the roll of wire I can see that it might make sense.

Excited to see your project as you get going. Today the last of the snow melted from the floor of my aviary and everyone was outside. I need to add a section of roof covering for rain protection and some better feeding stations this year, plus a few more branches up high for perching. Can't wait for the trees to bud out and the shrubs to flower so the birds can have fresh stuff to chew.

I am going to let the wire weather Alittle I believe it as stored inside so I want some outside exposure. I don't want an octagon my father would like to make an octagon so the specific are still in the making.
