hi.

one thing that always stumps me when looking around parrot forums, are the many abbreviations used to describe particular types of bird.

i've just come across Olive/Lutino Scaly, and i have no idea what kind of parrot this is, or which part of the forum deals with these ones.

Linnies is another that stopped me in my tracks for a while too.[i had to do a google search and look at a couple of other sites to find out what they were.] there are others too.

i think a glossary of these abbreviations and also other names used by parrot owners would be very helpful for people new to parrots. [unless there is already one here i haven't found?]

thanks.

Olive/Lutino would of course be for coloring, Olive/Green Lutino/Yellow, scaly could be a number of birds, Scaly Lorikeet, Scaly Amazon, maximilion Pionus also' known as the Scaly Headed Pionus, those are just a few that come to mind, without seeing a picture or reading what it is you found and putting it into context its impossible to say, with all the abbriviations, slang terms and AKA's in the world of parrots I think you'd need to set up a forum just for those alone, where would you begin?, and who would have the time it would take to make such a monumentous list?, best bet is to either observe and learn, google and find the answer, or just come right out and ask if you don't know, theres a lot of knowledgeable members on this forum that would be more than happy to help out :)

Antoinette .... Those are formal codes, not what people call birds. And those are passerines not parrots.
