My baby bronze winged pionus is 17 weeks old now and I'm attempting to abundance wean him. He's still demanding 3 feedings a day, taking.at least 30ccs per feeding. He does pick through and eat pellets and fresh food, but is still preceding to be hand fed.

Whenever he sees me he starts crying for food, even after just being fed. Whenever I have him out he usually spends the whole time crying for food too. He does not take solid foods from me, and will stop eating solids and beg for formula.

What's the best route to go? Continue what I'm doing until he matures a bit? Put his cage where he can constantly see me to try to break the begging habit? He's quiet and plays with his toys when I'm out of the room. I'd like to one day be able to interact with him a bit more.

Start feeding him with a spoon instead of the syringe, You won't be able to feed him as fast and he'll start exploring feeding himself out of the dish your using. I'd also suggest weighing him evry AM before feeding to keep track of his weight during the weaning process.
