Hi all

I am new to owning indian ringnecks as we have adopted a "lost and found"bird which was subsequently never claimed by its owner.

Please may I have some advice on correct food and supplements as I am concerned about about my bird's health due to the looks of its feathers - not sure if it is just seasonal moult or perhaps a skin parasite, bacteria or something in that line. I have attached pictures. I am from South Africa and we are in summer now

Any advice for a newbie will be very highly appreciated

Thanks

Lisa

hi Lisa,
Welcome to the forums and to your new rescue.

These are normal pin feather. New feathers grow in covered in a keratin sheath, then that crumbles away to reveal a new feathers.

The bird does look a little patchy, but than can be from living escaped and all.

If this burd friendly friendly and calm around you, then it is definitely someone's well loved parrot family member. As these burds revert quickly to fear of hands and humans. So please do everything to reunite them. There is parrot 911 that reunites parrots and people

I'm going to link the diet stuff.
Lots of veggies, fruit is less and about 10% of diet.
