Hi Iā€™m a bit worried I have an African gray Rio heā€™s 7 years old and today he was sick. The vet said thet it was becouse he was exited with my wife and got that exited he was sick also could be a parasite witch is not that heā€™s not been eating well for a week Iā€™m worried ab out t him is the vet right or thanks

I have never heard of that before.
More likely he has an infection and need a couple of rounds of antibiotics.
Recommend that you get your Grey into an Avian Specialist and quickly.

I agree with @SailBoat, I have not heard of such a diagnosis either. Was the vet who reached this conclusion an avian specialist, and did he run any tests at all? I'm not sure where you're located, but the following contains a list of avian vets that may help you. Even if your current vet is an avian specialist, you may want to think about getting a second opinion, as loss of appetite is a concern in itself ...

Hope this helps you! šŸ™

Ok I will take him to an avian specialist but I donā€™t have one beside me I stay at the top of Scotland very north.. heā€™s not been eating right for least a week I was worried about this but then he normally did a matting thing on my missus hand but then he was sick this is why the vet said that he might of got exited a bit more than normal and this could of been the reason but I donā€™t think this is right at all. My bird normally is fine no issues at all I donā€™t understand why he donā€™t this at all not like him heā€™s only 7 had him since 3 month Iā€™m so worried for him nearest avian is Glasgow least 5 hours away I donā€™t no if this will stress him I think it would as he wonā€™t have routine like normal I just donā€™t no what to do

I'm sorry your "nearest" avian vet is so far away! ;( You'd need to call them anyway to set up an appointment, perhaps you could tell them what the other vet said and see what they think? They may even have info about a different vet who treats birds that is closer to you? I have an unwell bird at the moment too, so I fully understand how worrying it is.

Hi sorry could this be the problem as I found this thanks

Stress over change or fear of travel, excessive playing, and excitement can cause regurgitation. Regurgitation may also be an expression of sexual behavior. For instance, a bird may regurgitate to a mirror, or a favorite toy, or a favorite person. Regurgitation may also be associated with nesting behavior.

Regurgitation certainly can be caused by any number of things as stated, but you have also mentioned his lack of appetite over a period of a week which to me is cause for concern. It's up to you which course of action you take, but it might still be worth your while putting in a call to that avian vet and getting a professional opinion :)
