Sure I am happy to give more information on my bird but will refrain from specific details in this post because its a public forum. Having said that, for interested parties I am happy to provide the pictures and more specifics thru PM to super moderator Tami2, b/c i can't get them directly yet.
Ruri is very gentle guy who is most comfortable with routine and predictability in the household. He'll happily hang out on your desk for hours at a time. Personality wise, he is a bit on the reserved side. New situations, toys, changes takes more effort for him to adjust to than the other birds have needed. But, he is most adventurous when it comes to new food - he sits at the table with us at dinnertime and is always the first one to willingly try out new fruits and veggies. Play-wise he prefers wood based toys and even better if there are round or spherical shaped components
Currently our living situation is proving to be too stressful for him. We’ve had to move once a year due to various circumstances and the uncertainty is starting to take its toll. He started from a light clipping of the feather tips to now major overpreening. Over the years we’ve tried many different things (full spectrum lights, showers, dietary changes, etc.) to correct the behavior and ultimately none of it helped. I feel he really needs to be in stable environment with someone who is not moving around, has a routine schedule, and can give more one-on-one attention.
