African grey info?

As you know I adopted Kenji the Congo African gray yesterday, and I am still at the very tip of researching the species to better understand his needs.

I've previously read many African gray books just because I like birds, but many seemed fairly old. I'm going to sit down and re read the African gray hand book. I've also read Alex the African gray, and I'm ordering the Alex studies, a scientific book with a lot of details about their mind and intelligence, but not care.

Anyone know what the best website or book for African gray diets and behavior/care is? I know all about galah diets and care but the Greys seems very different. He's already on a pretty awesome diet. He eats Harrison's pellets, nutri-an cakes, and fresh fruit and veggies daily.

So basically anything you can tell me about grays that is specific to them would be great I want to give Kenji the best home possible and I know you guys will help me to do that. I've already been told to make sure to keep him busy, and make sure to always have his favorite toys.

Please let me know how the Alex Studies book is! I have read Alex and Me and that's next on my list, as I will be doing similar work at uni as Pepperburg did with the greys. But I also noticed the book is very expensive, almost $200 for the hard copy. I want it lol
Is it as expensive over there?

No, it's way less expensive here D: it's normally $30 but I found it for $20. I'll definitely let you know how it is when it arrives I'm excited about reading it. I talked to Kinji's parronts about how I'm interested in using social interaction to teach him the meaning of words

That book is good and Sally Blanchard has a book on Greys I believe that is pretty good. I find maybe asking some people on here about there personal expirences with Greys and there needs might give you a broader horizon of information. Of course not all of it may be right, but that's we're your research can dispose of that information and just keep the good personal expirences. Your grey should be quite easy as he came from an good home and has been there most of his life then went straight into your amazing home. Let us know how it goes and I will try to find a link about that Sally Blanchard book.

I think he's going to be fairly easy(as easy as a highly intelligent creature can be) too, he's had a great home, and now he's in a new great home My biggest worry was that the change would cause too much stress and he might start plucking, but so far I've seen no sign of it and I'm hopeful I never will.

He sounds like a typical african grey (not that that's a bad thing!). If I recall right, african greys may need extra vitamin A and calcium in their diets as compared to other species.

Kenji appears to be in great health, though! Hopefully, he has just as many years with you, if not more, than he did with his previous owners!!!

They are recommended to be on high potency full time as a species, right now he's on normal Harrison's but I'll change it once his bag is gone. It seems he's been eating more fresh fruits than fresh veggies, today I made a new batch of chop mix and he tried a little bit. He is very good about trying new things, I'm impressed by that. I haven't known many African grays, but the one's I have known have been very wary.

I also hope we have many years together
