AJ is my grumpy old man of a 'tiel. I adore him, but he's still unsure about me. I haven't been able to do much with him, as he's still super skittish around my hands. He's 16, and seems as though he was never handled before I got him, so I've been taking things super slow with him.
I just wanted to share a quick accomplishment with all of you. Tonight, when I was getting ready for bed and doing my nightly food/water check, I picked up a sunflower seed and held it out to him between two fingers. He'll take food from my hand if I hold my hand flat with seeds on it, but not if I hold it with two fingers. He was unsure at first, and started to move away, but stopped and had a stare-down with the seed. And then he took a couple steps towards my hand. And I just about died of happiness. He didn't take the treat, but for him to willingly step towards my hand was amazing. He's never done that.
Anyways, that's all. Just wanted to share how proud I am of AJ. <3
