I've wanted to say something about my little Severe Macaw for awhile, but never had the opportunity until now. He was 2 months old when he passed, December 31st 2008. He died on New Year's Eve, so I had little to celebrate that night. To this day, I've no idea why he died. He was just beginning to wean, and to lose a baby was a real shock to me. He was the sweetest of all babies, cuddly and affectionate. He always bounced around when I got home from school, begging to be snuggled with.
He will always be in my heart, a dear and lovely little boy.

RIP Alex, Mommy loves you with all her heart...

Did you get an autopsy done? Unfortunately some just were never meant to make it :(

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your little friend.

To lose a baby is a very hard thing to go through but there can be sooooo many things why you would lose a baby. That's why I never suggest anyone to get a baby unless they're weaned for sure. 2 months is still a very young age to be weaned so they would still need formula if necessary! As macaws can go into relapse when they go to a new home and would need to be re-weaned again. I totally understand it is something you never get over as I've been there myself. You just have to think about the ones you've got now and go from there.

Thank you all for your condolences...
I never had an autopsy, I just couldn't bear the thought of him being sliced open, but I know that he was always a sickly little guy. I think he just wasn't meant to be, and I'm sure he's much happier in Birdie Heaven, where he can play with all the other macaws, healthy.
