Tabatha is the name of my Alexandrine Parrot. She is 2 years old and her mum is Tracy! (the one writing this).
G'day everyone!

Tabatha wants to say hello! She is a 2 year old Alexandrine, and I'm her new mum. She already talks, and squawks her head off! Any suggestions on how to help her stop her extremely loud squawking?:green2:

My Alexandrine doesn't squawk so much anymore, I just ignored him when he did squawk. And when he talked/was quite I gave him attention/treats. That worked for me.

I know it's hard to ignore there loud high pitched squawk, it really makes your ears ring. xD

At the moment, I'm putting the cover over her cage, this quietens her down. She does not like fingers, but if she goes for a fly, and when she lands, she is so happy to step up onto your hand, and then I get to pat her. She loves sitting on shoulders too! Stretches out from the top of her cage to get on board. She laughs, talks, and does "laps"of her perch and cage. It's almost as if she is waiting for something.

I'm her second owner, and the previous owner had her for two years, so I'm not sure if the was a routine for her.

Welcome!
I would also recommend ignoring the loud screams and praise the good behaviors you want to reinforce, especially since she's a new member of your family.

My Alexandrine use to hate fingers. But now hes a real sweetie. All it took was daily handling. He likes to be patted/get scratches and he also loves shoulders, xD
Mine does the same to try and get on my shoulder. xD

So far my little guy says, Hello (very clear), can start to make out "what's that". (Not so clear) and other words I cannot make out.

He also LOVES to chew everything. XD

Oh and I would love to see pics of your girl :D

Welcome to a great family forum!
