Just a 5 month old alexandrine
Today I noticed my 5 month old Alex dropped one of its big tail feathers, I absolutely love it's tail size why did he/she dropped its feather ?? Am I suppose to be worried ?

Has your bird been dropping other feathers as well? S/he could be moulting (which is normal). Is it possible the tail feather got caught and loosened somehow? Alexandrines need large cages for this very reason. If they don't have enough 'wiggle room', their tails suffer and can be lost. I wouldn't worry too much unless your bird's showing other symptoms (like weight loss, runny nose or depression). If s/he is, then a vet visit might be in order. You don't say what part of the world you're in, so I don't know when is normal moulting season. My birds moulted back in the Australian spring. I don't much like the few weeks they're without their gorgeous tails (although they do look kinda cute with their little duck-bums). :)

My Alexandrine, Ray, loses her longest tail feather every now and again. Don't worry it will grow back as long as your giving him/her a properly balanced diet.

Probably just moulting, thinking back my boy lost his tail feathers first during his first moult and didn't lose too many others actually. The second year he looked completely homeless and unloved, poor thing! He was a real state, but that was his puberty moult so it makes sense. The other will probably drop too and then a few others from his wings etc... Don't worry unduly.

Birds drop feathers from time to time and they also molt. A new feather will grow in the replace the old one.
If it doesn't, that is a different story. DO keep in mind that growing new feathers takes time, so don't freak out because you don't see a new one right away lol.

Thanks for the help.

Yup it's all good plenty of fresh fruits, green veggies and dry fruits.

The tail feathers are growing back and the color of the new feathers is way more viabrant then the old ones.
