Hi all,

I am not sure am i interested or because i saw their actions, that makes me wanted to own 1.

Only this particular day when my wife asked me to drive her to FarmMart and from there i saw parrots and they are performing tricks, which makes me feel like having 1.

As a newbie, i will have to go through the forum to see how, what, where to get more info.

Importantly making friends to teach me how to tame a parrot.

Below is my restraints.

1. Living in HDB (4 rooms) with 2 kids (3 & 6 years old)
2. Well, my age is 42, so what/which size/type of the parrots should i get
3. My wife kind of reluctant to let me have a parrot, due to their poopoo and if traveling, who is going to look after it.
4. Maintenance for the parrot, like nail clipping, grooming etc?

Regards,

Have you owned a bird before?

That was during Secondary School time, but not fully focus just keeping in the cage.

In fact, my wife is trying to stop me to buy a parrot, so i am still deciding should i take up this hobbies.

Hello Keith! Welcome to the forums!

I'm happy to see you are doing a lot of research before you adopt a bird. Adopting a bird, in many ways, is far more than a hobby. Please seriously consider your wife's feelings about getting a bird, if she isn't in agreement from the start things could be difficult for your entire family, not to mention how uncomfortable your bird would be. Have you checked to make sure you can have a bird in your HDB? If it isn't against the rules, according to the species you choose, the noise could be a problem with close neighbors.

Trained parrots are always impressive and a joy to see, but a lot of work goes into each and every trick, it may look easy but more than likely the parrot and trainer have spent a lot of hours training together.

I don't mean to discourage you but please give your decision lots of consideration.

ya hor, i dont see many birds in HDB, good tip for me, i might have slip this regulations, will follow up with HDB.

With regards to the place we stay, i am moving to EC next year, probably bird is not allow too.

I am fine with any comments, because i could be having sudden surge of interest, might not be a good owner.

I will still do my research before i decide.

Appreciate with thanks.
