So I was having troubles with my ammies always getting into the treat bag, they would climb down thier playstand across and down thier cage to the shelves and drawers underneithe. They'd pull open the drawer and yank open the treat bag and munch munch munch.

Well today after i gave them some treats i put the treats in a plastic jar and set it across the room since even though they are unclipped my ammies don't really fly. Well i am sitting in the living room and my husband stops and says, "Hunny, birds." I look over and there is Ianto crawling down his playgym, an down the cage looking for treats. Well he does his usual check in the food drawer and when unable to find them climbs back up and chitters with his mate Tosh. After a few minutes i could see he had hatched up a plan and was climbing down his gym and to his cage again. He continued down to cage onto our large dog kennel, then to the dinner table which he crossed over a bunch of boxes i had out needing shipping and then onto a chair then to the kitchen counter and found the treat jar which he was sure if he grabbed by the lid he could drag all the way back to the cage. I was laughing to hard watching him drag this jar almost as big as himself across the counter back to the chair where im sure he would have tried to carry to the table and so on. I was laughing so much i fogot to take a pic but i thought i would share. I figured he earned a treat for his adventure and gave him two (since he always grabs two and takes one back to his mate Tosh, which i never understood cause if he finishes his first he just steals hers from her anyways) and he headed back to his cage with the perfect look on his face like he was saying, " HUNNY LOOK WHAT I GOT!" lol:p

That's too cute, "Honey I'm Home"

That's an Amazon all right-- clever, resourceful and determined...

Very smart! Definately deserved the treat for all the hard work he put into getting it!

Awwww, how sweet! LOL

:) That's funny story and yes, I admire Amazons for their "skills".

I want to get a bumper sticker that says "My Amazon is smarter than your honor roll student".

LOL, that is a great story.....such a smart little one you have there.

OMG tammy i do too!!! I totally need to make one of those!!!

He must really feel @ home if he's doing sneak missions. What a sweet guy if he thinks of his mate during his crimes. lol

Humph! And people say birds can't think ahead or plan their next move...HA! You just proved them all wrong! That's awesome!

True story here: Back the in the 80's my friend Colette had a Macaw, Paco, also very intelligent. They also had a kitten whom Paco liked to play with. Paco would be up on his play stand and decide he was bored, climb down, walk over to the kitties food dish then call...Here kitty kitty kitty and darned if that kitten would come running every time thinking he was getting fed and of course Paco would pounce and they'd roll around on the floor together. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I probably wouldn't have believed it. Paco also screamed FIRE! FIRE! everytime someone opened the woodstove door...and one time, he bit my friends sister...horrible bad and she screamed "Ouch you little F$#&#@$!!! After that, most times when he saw Rachel...he'd look at her and say..."little F'r! (of course using the actual word)

Yea...I haven't had the desire to own the big parrots...I love em...but whoa the stuff they pick up on! LOLOLOL

My Amazon will yell "Hurt! Hurt!" prior to launching an attack on my mother. I try not to laugh but can't help it. He learned it from the girls when I brush their hair. Also, if they're arguing & being loud he will yell "Knock it Off!" & "What's wrong with you"

Yeah i just found those this afternoon on that sight also. I really like the one with the amazon lookin down at you all gangsterish saying, " You talkin' to me???" lol
