Hi, I am new here. And I was attracted because of the Quaker people here. My girlfriend says that there are no more people like me who love Quakers. She thinks I am crazy. Just wanted to prove her wrong. I started out with a parrot that I rescued from my daughter. Gerty sat in the corner and with 7 kids playing guitar hero on tv, was screaming for some attention. So I took her out and talked to her the week we were there. She had started to pluck on her chest. My daughter decided that she could go home with me. So I took her, oh by the way at the time her name was Hank, and on the way home my daughter called and said you can rename the parrot, there was an egg in the bottom of her cage. She had bonded with me in that short a time. That was almost 6 years ago. Since then my friend has tried to talk me into other birds. She gave me two lovebirds first. They are brats. I love them but would not give a nickel for another one like them. Then she gave me two Cockatiels. They were parent raised and they are wilder than a coot. But they sing pretty. The Parakeets were my idea, I must admit. I just wanted to add to the choir. Recently I purchased a breeding pair of Quakers. Bonnie and Clyde, and they live up to their name. And another one the lady told me was a male. I am thinking she is right. But not sure. I also have a Quaker that I rescued out of a nasty pet store. She only has one wing. Looks like there was not enough humidity in the incubator. She is fine otherwise. She has decided that the extra male named Rudy is just a fine friend. Sometimes. They are all a riot. I love them so much and get such a kick out of how they interact. I am hoping I can learn some more here. I am not much of a poster I am more of a reader. I hope that's ok.
