I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Accu-metrics lab in Canada. I just received my dna reports on my baby gcc's, all males! They seem very professional and they are less expensive than the other labs so it seems like a win-win however I can't help but wonder , why are they half the price. I had my three babies tested so that potential owners would know the sex and they all turned out to be males. Three boys, is that unusual?

I use Health Gene- one of the reasons why the dna labs started reducing the pricing was because more and more labs are performing dna testing....therefore the competition is heating up :)

I use to pay $20.00 plus tax, now it's $12.00 plus tax, which I love, cause I get plenty of birds dna'd and it adds up pretty quickly :)

Did you use the feather, blood or egg shell? Just wondering. I've had clutches that were all the same sex, usually males. I've also heard that it's possible small temp changes can effect sex of embryos. Don't know that to be true in birds but is true in many reptiles.

I used a blood sample. They were very professional and sent nice printable documents via email. I just heard from a friend that breeds a lot of gcc's and she said that she thought it had to do with temp and/or humidity.

They also had the option to test egg shells and feathers.
