Anybody from NYC here? Urgent help is needed.

This is HEARTBREAKING. Those poor birds and other creatures. I don't know how theres a question of whether or not those women should be charged with animal cruelty! I hope these sweet birds and other animals all find loving homes and receive the veterinary care they need!

I'm in MD, but could help a couple birds. I want that M2 in video at the end! I may have a contact who could help with a cat or two, but I"m allergic to cats.
I'll see about contacting them today.

i'm about 2 hours from there, and actually i believe i have an old classmate that works in animal control in NYC. i could definitely take in a couple birds in need.

edit- looks like this is in long island

Was just getting ready to post the same.... :} Sad state of affairs for the the inhabitants of the pet store..... :(

Hoarders are by far the worst offenders.

These people are mentally ill. The sad part is, in their own minds, they think they are doing the right thing by all these animals. In reality, they are slowly torturing them to death...

I was on two calls like this. One was a back yard breeder operation, where the owner lost his home to foreclosure, and just walked away - LEAVING THE BIRDS IN THEIR FLIGHTS WITH NO FOOD OR WATER... [Most of those birds did not make it.]

The second was 75 birds in a hoarder situation. She thought she was "rescuing" them. We spent Thanksgiving weekend that year, getting them out of there and placing them. The county was not set up for exotic birds, and would have euthanized them...

Hoarders are by far the worst offenders. I agree 100% My Macaw was with one. She had BB and I forget how many dogs and cats.
She is still filing papers with the court to try and get him back. She is mentally just not right. They pressed charges and she is never allowed to own a pet again ever. They check on her once or twice a month to make sure. More places need to do this.

There is very little funding for enforcement, and only a couple of officers assingned to it, even in a city the size of San Antonio. When the ratio is one animal control officer to every 800,000 people. Well, it's like collecting raindrops to beat back the flood... (not especially effective.)

It's lack of resources.

And taking someone's pet away requires a court process that the animal might not survive if the owner really decides to fight it...

It's sad that all pet owners can't love them the way we do. But they don't.

I'm glad that BB is safe with you and there is no risk of him ever possibly being retuned!

Thank you ! It worried me that she could file papers and regain him. I have a " title " for lack of a better word from the vet stating he is mine.
Trust me I would hurt someone who tried to take him. Or better yet BB would LOL

What a horrible situation for all those poor animals. I am so thankful they found them now, and wish I was close enough to take a couple.
