Congo African Grey, Chance
I am looking for a playstand for my African Grey, Chance. I can not handle him yet( I got him from a rescue, he came from a home where he was kept in a small box with a female. He has a import band and we dont know his age or if he was ever tame.) but I would like to give him a option to get off his cage when he is out during the day.
What do you all think of this play stand?
Bird playstands, playgyms & playpens: Pyramid Play Gym at Drs. Foster & Smith
( am looking to get the larger one with the stand)

I am looking to spend about $100 dollars so if anyone knows of any other playstands for around the same price let me know please.

Heres Chance

I do not have this playstand but I did look it up and the reviews didn't sound to good and it also said in one of the reviews that the rolling stand on the bottom did not come with it and had to be ordered seperatly. Their were also some complaints about difficulty assembling it because the holes did not line up.:)

I plan on ordering it with the stand also. but think I didnt read the reviews haha

hi. i've been looking at lots of playstands lately to replace one of Pritti's. I was considering that one, it looks like a nice one. I would want to know if the playgym just sits on the rolling stand to make sure it's very sturdily sitting on top of the bottom. I would check it out on amazon or ebay where you can usually find a lot of personal reviews on products. SOOOOO many of the playgyms I looked at and liked, had reviews telling whether they were cheaply made, well made, wobbly, heavy, good hardware, etc.

P.S. the more I looked the more confused I got.

The Reviews are not good on this playstand and I think you woulod regret buying it.

I bought this stand for my Eclectus and he loves it : Bird Playstands: Black Parrot Playpen at Drs. Foster & Smith

It's also currently on sale for $159.00 + FREE SHIPPING, which really helps since this thing weighs in at close to 40 pounds.

If you only want to spend $100.00, I would recommend this playstand/table;
Bird play gyms, playstands, playpens: Acrobird Play Tower by Caitec at Drs. Foster and Smith

I actually just purchased the play stand and my cockatiel didn't take long to get used to it. What I really like about is that the food cups screw on/off from the top perch which makes cleaning so much easier. I even attached a few toys to it. Easy to clean and assemble. I would recommend this product.

I have one a lot like the one you ae looking at - it was 2nd hand, so fully assembled when it arrived. My Pan amazon sits on it (or above it on the curtain rod, depending on his mood). I actually bought it for our Grey, who is a bit shy about new things (as is the Pan) but the Pan got to it first.

They are not especialy sturdy, but if your Grey isnt particularly hard on things, it is a pretty good stand for the money.

We used to have a stand very much like the one MtDoraMike suggested. Great stand, except the shy Grey was terrified of it. MyYC Amazon adored it, but he wanted to perch on the thin wire on top, not on one of the wooden perches below. [In fact, he made short work of those wooden perches . . . ]

What does your Grey think of PVC? There are some fantastic - and inexpensive - PVC stands out there, too.

i would be afraid that he would chew it, I would go with one of the other ones suggested

That stand looks like a giant chew toy. My parrots would tear that thing apart within hours. :) I would check out ebay. They always have good prices on play stands.

I made my play gym for only $25 bucks if that. Go to Lowes and get the 10 foot pvc piping. Ask them there to cut it in half, and then buy the little cap covers $.44-$.33 *Do not get the ones that screw on, get the ones that just stick on $1.69. The same goes with the "T" Tee Fitting cap. Cut the pvc piping to how big you want it. Next buy Sisal Rope for $2.84 (I think $$ at walmart), food coloring for $1.98, neon beads for $2.97, and use things that you find around the house and make toys: toilet paper rolls- dyed, shishkabob skewers, dyed, plastic bottles and so on. But yeah you can make one and save so much money. Plus it's a lot of fun making the play gym, because you can make it so unique and personal... If you enjoy that type of thing ;)
