Hope it's Ok if I partake in this thread!
I have a YNA who is a whack job. He doesn't want to be taken out of his cage. He wants us to open the door, and he will climb out himself, thank you very much. He will then allow you to give him scritches.... Or maybe he won't, depending upon how he is feeling, or some other factor, un beknownst to me. Then he may, or most likely will not step up. He will more likely than not make me ask him at least 5 or maybe ten times to step up onto my outstretched hand. Most days, I will have to leave the room, and return several times to further suggest that he step up and come out with me to enjoy morning Birdy madness. Sometimes after four or five times, he will agree, and sometimes I will have to resort to leaning over him, or cornering him, or I can send my mom or my boyfriend in, and he will often step up for them at the first request.... Just to spite me, I am sure.
Boom Boom (YNA) is clicker trained, and knows about 6 tricks. He also loves to sing and dance, and we have Birdy rock out time every day together. ..... But god forbid I should ask him to step off his outside perch. Or off his perch in the aviary. I don't get it. He plays with me, let's me give him scritches, LOVES night time tickles and going for walks......he just HATES stepping up. What gives? Amazon attitude?
Your post made me think of him. I hope it's OK if I asked on your thread
