I came across some new shag carpet samples and they look like they would be fun for Puck to play with. They haven't been glued down to anything or anything like that. Would this be safe for him to play with? It's not long enough for him to get tangled in. I don't know if there is anything in there that would be toxic.

Many Carpets are coated with substances to keep dirt etc from sticking to them, carpet samples would be a no no in my house.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. I think these are. They looked like they'd be fun to shred but I'll look for another use for them. It's not like he doesn't have enough toys or anything. I've had him about 2 months and spent about $200 on toys alone, and was planning on making another toy order soon.

henpecked is correct. The coating that they spray on carpets is very bad for the birds. Remember also when getting your carpets cleaned, dont let them spray on the protectant!

Okay.

I was planning on steam cleaning my carpets myself soonish. Is there anything else I should know about it? Should I have him elsewhere for a few hours while cleaning it? Are some carpet shampoos better than others?

(He's the one that stains the carpet the most, with his berry poops!)
