Are Michael's baskets untreated?

Michaels craft store sells baskets for a few dollars and I bought two. The lady thinks they're untreated. I haven't given them to my bird yet but I just want to know what you think.

I would wash them in a mild bleach solution and let them dry in the sun. You cannot see some of the sprays that are put on them but it may be ok.

I often think of baskets but what about the little nails etc. they use?
