My mother in law stopped by today and as soon as Jackie saw her I swear she wanted to fly off her cage and attack her!! She would fan her tail, start to spread her wings, eyes pinning, the whole 9 yards... And of course my mil was sticking her hand out towards Jackie and I kept telling her not to do that!! She wants to attack you!! Finally she said oh really?? ok... (ummm duh!!) But even after she sat down Jackie was still acting like she wanted to fly over and take a bite out of her!

This is the first time Jackie's acted like this towards anyone who's come over...

Amazon's have their opinions and they do make them known. Good thing your MIL backed off.
It's also hormonal season but that might not matter, be careful in the future.

Zons are pretty notorius for picking and choosing who they do and don't like, and those they "don't like" they hate with a passion. There isn't usually a good reason for it either. Kiwi HATES my MIL, and she has never done anything to him. She actually tries to talk to him and offer treats when she comes over but he is just vicious. He actually reached off the side of his cage and grabbed her once when she got too close. She is the only person we have to lock him up for when she comes around. I doubt you'll ever know why your bird hates your MIL, and there's probably not a whole lot you can do to encourage him to be friendly towards her. The best option for her safety and his is to just keep him in his cage when she's around so no injuries happen to either one.

This was the first time my mil and Jackie have met... And now that I know Jackie CLEARLY does not like her, next time I'll make sure Jackie is in her cage. It just took me off guard because she's been pretty 'normal' with everyone she's ''met" so far, and I didn't think she would hate my mil!! Oh well...she drives me nuts anyways so maybe Jackie felt the same hahaha!!

They can also feed off YOUR emotions.......:D just saying.....

That would explain a little bit lol the other people that have come over I haven't really cared or shown interest (husband's friends), but when she showed up at my door it was like ?! and she already gets on my nerves so I wouldn't doubt it if Jackie was telling her to get the heck out!

My Zon has done the same thing!

There are a couple of people that have visited and he screamed, climbed off his cage and actually chased them out of the room.

Seems like he does not give notice to most poeple, has "love at first sight" with a few individuals and really really dislikes a few.

Thats living with an amazon i guess.

Lol omg, not sure I'd wanna contend with an angry zon!! I'd run like heck!! Poor guests though :/ at least now I know what her angry "I'm gonna kill you" mode looks like...

My dyh acts the same way... And even when he is in hormones he will go after me so be advised to watch this bird and his body language to keep yourself safe. Don't fear him just be conscience of his body language and be respectful if he says back off. As it will be better for you and the bird both inthe long run. As stated amazons are picky birds and they can hate one person and love the next.

Watch that body language and you should be fine:).
