Bands

Hello,

I found out my breeder didn't band any of the new babies...she said she ran out of closed bands and didn't get them ordered in time. Makes me kind of weary since on the website (Canadian Parrot Breeder, Parrot Breeders) she says they band them.

She mentioned she might have some open bands somewhere and that she'd look.

Should I be concerned? I've already put down a deposit. I know it's too late now for closed bands.

Leg bands aren't great anyway and lots of people would recommend not putting them on birds for safety reasons.
Ask them to microchip your birdie instead.

None of my birds have bands. I'm glad because I would have had them removed.

Your avian vet can remove them

I thought of removing Oliver's but the procedure to take it off and to put a chip in scared me...so, so far, he still has it on. He doesn't seem to care one way or the other but I always fear it could get caught on something...
