My breeder came up with the theory that changes in barometric pressure affects bird behavior, after having many conversations about this I definitely think she is right. I've broached this before in different threads, we have a front coming in with T-storms, the GW's are acting completely out of character and the Zon's are misbehaving as well. ReaRea has always come to me with no issues, today she completely ignored me when I went to get her earlier (this was a first) and Miri ran (flew) to avoid me as well (another first). All the Zon's wanted to do was kill each other...... Only difference in anything is the weather change, and having 2 moody GW's on you ain't fun.

I agree 100%.. My flock seem to become edgy when there is bad weather coming.... My Macaws become kind of shy and quite... my Amazons are the worst...They hang from the side of there cage growl and display.. My CAG never changes..;)

Wharf, I can attest that Texas has a lot of hot air & I've heard that there's even a good bit in their state house, but that I don't know for sure.....

Although I've never really thought about it, birds are active and do move ahead of major weather fronts and they migrate with season changes.....those changes are affected by barometric pressure.....heck, we can detect pressure changes ourselves, that will be those times when our ears feel plugged & we keep yawning, opening and closing our mouth until they pop, maybe a bird has a similar sensitivity in their ears.....

I'm in Texas, too, storms a'coming in, and my birds have ALL been off today. The Grey is uncharacteristically edgy, jumpy, and nervous; the RB2 is unusually subdued and quiet; the lovebirds are too quiet; the parrotlet was hiding in a toy when I went to check on him. I think there is something to your theory. I'll start playing closer attention to it. . .

I whole heartedly agree!!! Before we were blasted by Sandy, ALL my fids acted quite strange. Not necessarily aggressive but sort of agitated. I think the dogs felt it, too, as did I. I am not a migraine sufferer, but when the barometric pressure rises quickly I feel my head is in a vice grip.

I just said to my daughter today, "what is wrong with the birds today, they're all hyper".
I had no idea that our weather is about to change, ....we are under a storm watch.

After hurricane Ike, her birds went into a breeding frenzy, most she'd ever had at once, and that's when she started thinking about it. SHe's been reducing her flock little by little. She's gonna kill me when I tell her I'll take the Tres MAries and/or the Magnas....then the wife will kill me......what's a man to do LOL

We are currently experiencing some off weather here and my flock have been really off. On a similar note, when we had the solar eclipse a few months back ( i had an 80% total eclipse) just on totality oxy went craz. I was on the phone with mydad at the tome rubbing it in and his flock went books swell.

my GCC is nippy today, and he's never nippy, very interesting I never thought of it until you posted this, makes total sense
