Hey guys! I'm sure if you've been a member for a bit you remember my struggle with my past breeder. However I've still had absolutely 0 luck finding a new breeder)): I've been searching for a new breeder for over 3 months and I've gotten nowhere. I've had a few recommendations but they either do not breed Blue crowns or they don't have any babies(I've been put on the list)

Does anyone happen to know any good blue crown breeders?? I'm in southern New Mexico. I don't mind traveling a bit to a breeder probably no more than a days trip though. I'd like the baby to be off the road ASAP. Please? )),: I'm so tempted to try a different species but I'm keeping my self control in check and waiting for my perfect little Blue Crowned Baby.

When I got Gilbert I had some trouble finding one around me and I just went on birdbreeder and started looking around and sending emails to people. They don't seem to have the popularity they once did because I don't see a lot of BCC babies.
I do see some at rescues though if you would be interested in that route.

So tell me, what do you love most about your Blue Crowned Conurs? There is one here up for adoption and I was curious about them. Sorry, don't mean to hijack your post, just want to know what current owners love best about them! :)

My Gilbert is a very laid back bird. He has all the goofy, bratty, outgoing clowning ways of a conure and is cuddly and sweet but he is also easy going.
I also chose him based on size (I sort of wanted a bigger bird, but I also wanted a conure. He was the one who fit everything I wanted! He definitely carries himself like a big bird.)

Thanks! I've always heard good things about there temperament! Gilbert sounds delightful! :D

Don't they also strike a nice balance between the other aratingas and the calmer, quieter pyrrhuras?

Hmm. I just did a search on Birdbreeders. Apparently there are no breeders listed in NM, and none in TX, OK, or even in AZ. Would you be willing to have a bird shipped to your closest airport?

Lol Wendy!! The BCC I'm referring two has two interested parties ahead of me. So my chances are slim. But thought I would ask, just in case! ;)

I don't like shipping/: it makes me nervous lol and ruffled where are you from?? If you don't mind me asking. I've also just recieved an and email from one of the breeders that I was put on the list for(: her bcc's are on eggs right now. I'm first on her list as well. But I'm trying not to get too excited until they hatch, that's what happened last time. The eggs never hatched.

I am in NJ but i ended up having Gilbert shipped. I wasn't thrilled with the thought of it but we were lucky and it was easy (short flight and he was perfectly calm).

Just as I suspected. My breeder fell through again. I just received my deposit back and back at square one lol.

Hi Danny, I remember all of the previous things you've been through with your birds. You sure deserve some good luck now!

Why not start by calling breeders on birdbreeders.com. If they say they don't have what you're looking for or no longer breed them, etc, many times they will be willing to refer you to other breeders that they know, and those people in turn may have yet more people to talk to, and eventually you will find what you're looking for. You might want to call people who are listed as Conure breeders of any kind of conure to see if they 'know' anyone. Then, after you locate one, it's up to you to ask the right questions to make sure they are a reputable/quality bird breeder. Good luck finding your BCC!

Oh, and about shippping... it's a common practice that been done for many years now, and is completely safe. The select airlines who do this know what they're doing. Delta has a program called Pets First. I'm sure you can google it. The breeders who ship also know "how" to do it to strict airline regulations to keep the pet safe. The only drawback I can think of with shipping is that for a bird BCC size it will cost you another near $200 in addition to buying the bird.

I'm so sorry to hear that your breeder fell through. :( I think Julie gave you some good advice to search for another breeder. Don't give up, it will happen! Good luck and keep us posted.

Have you been talking with "Deborah 'The Bird Lady'"? She is based out of Texas and has great reviews. I spoke with her about a year ago when I was considering buying a baby. She was very nice and helpful, and there were a couple available at the time. I think availability for her depends on the season too. But I didn't buy a bird from her so I don't have that experience to give you.

My local rescue also has several blue crowns, granted they're older and timid but conures are so social I feel like there's more potential for them to come around than maybe other species...maybe look into that?

I recently sent deborah an email and she responded right away! She doesn't have availability at the moment I've also created an email and sent it to every breeder that I could find nearby on the web. I asked all of them what species they breed and if they happen to know any other breeders that happen to breed blue crowns! Very few responses though

I have a lot of Quaker and green cheek breeders around me but I can't do Quakers because I MAY be moving to California in about a year and a half and I think they're outlawed there? What are similar breeds that generally compare to blue crowns personality?? Maybe I have to get a different baby, idk it just seems abnormally hard like it's not meant for me to have a bcc or something
