Beak Chipping!? Helpp!

Okay so I recently noticed his beak is chipping. And ive been looking though books to find out hats going on to make sure its not something serious one book recomended alying small amount of baby oil to the beak.
then im having a pfbd freak out, so i took a picture of the feet too, so ask if his feet look normal, scales and such ..
but any advise on the beak , please??

he likes to chew on his foot band maybe its cracking because that??
hes on zooprem pellet diet and the bag says added vitamins not required and could be harmful

The feet seem fine and so does the beak. It looks his beak is just peeling after chewing on some hard toys. I had the same thing happen to my birds but they were given the all clear.

Is that blood on his perch? I'd find that WAY more concerning IMO

That's completely normal. Remember, a bird's beak is a growing part of their body, it grows and sheds. Get a concrete perch and place it on the roof of the cage, next to a perch, so that it is vertical this will give your feathered friend a nice place to scratch his beak on so he can rub it and let it shed. (you can also take him to get him groomed, which i recommend, depending on how smooth the groomer is) but naturally letting him wear it down on that vertical perch is a good way to go. Also give him some wood toys to chew on if he doesn't already have.

hes got a wooden perch and some ropes with dangling wood pieces that he likes and one of the sand-ish perches for his nails, but i love the vertical perch idea. =D thanks

Concrete perches works best in my opinion! They will file them down when they needed to. All is very normal!!!

Roman is a very handsome quaker! His beak and feet look normal to me. My quakers have beak buffer stones by their food dishes. I think it's a matter of finding what works for your bird. Vertical perch is a great idea, soft wood toys, concrete perches, try them all and see what Roman thinks.

His wooden perch looks to be about 3/8" in diameter, at least the part he's standing on.....that's almost too small.....he could comfortably handle perches of 5/8" diameter and probably 3/4".....don't you have some stands of mesquite around there? Cut yourself some interesting pieces & make him some larger diameter perches.....

I use concrete perches near food dishes as well. Various sizes and types make a difference to the care of feet and nails.

Roman is a cutie! My fids get the same chipping. It's normal.
