That's one of the more dramatic changes between juvenile and adult colorings.

It's not a gradual progression at all... it's more like catapillar-butterfly.

Beautiful! I could not have guessed what species that was before the molt! Is that just the male coloration? My mother has the related Princess Parakeet.

Well, I could kinda guess he was a male when I got him, because of his flat head. Male barrabands tend to have flat heads, and females round-ish. And most male juveniles have very little purple/darkred barring under their throats, which can be another sign. And then there is the Iris. Female Barrabands don't have the same type of Eyes as the males. But overall the males look almost exactly as a female, and it takes an expert like me to know if it's a male or female.

But you can't always be for sure in some cases. Because there are SOME males that look EXACTLY like females and show no signs of being a male. Until the molt. But mine acted all crazy, and showed great signs of being a male, and I kept my fingers crossed until the molt. And now I'm happy, and he's happy. He talks more than my BFA, and imitates every sound my flock makes, and lots of other sounds/noises.

These guys I would call the Australian Ringneck A.K.A Barraband :P

I believe you're not exaggerating when you say the Barrabands is good at talking and mimicking! My mom's Princess parrot (also a Polytelis) is a male, and he talks better than my parrots. He says full sentences, and many noises, and occasionally will repeat something right away after hearing it. Not bad for what are usually aviary species!

Wowzer! What an amazing transition, stunning little man!

Ditto to all of the preceding praise! Those colours are so beautiful.

Oh my goodness that is just amazing!!!! Beautiful!!!!

Thank you guys so much, I really appreciate Your kindness. Taco is the most beautiful out of all my parrots, and the most talkative dancing parrot with full of energy every day. :D

That is a stunning metamorphosis! Wow! I've never seen that big a difference from simply molting! Your barraband is beautiful!

It's amazing isn't it? A single molt made that big of a difference. :)
