Benjamin, 40 yo male YNA. My husband has had him since he was a chick.
Lexi, 9 mo old female turquoise IRN.
A couple years ago we bought a cage that was much to large for our little guy. It was large enough to house at least two macaws! He cowered in a corner hated it so much we put him back in his old cage.

We bought him a new cage and it was delivered yesterday. NO SCREWS, NO BOLTS! I had it together in less than 20 minutes! Of course, it then took my husband an hour to arrange all his perches and toys. I actually had to make him take some things out. lol Size wise it fits in the same space as the old cage, but it's much roomier inside. He went right in and has been purring and chirping ever since.*

This morning I uncovered him and he came right over for scratchies. Opened the door and he came right out to explore!

The photos are 1) 38 year old cage, 2) huge cage, 3) new cage (I've no idea how to turn this)

Very nice new room for Benjamin! Looks like it meets his approval already, he's such a handsome fellow.

Dare I ask your plans for the empty cages?

You can go back to the photo you are uploading and rotate it 1/4 turn until it comes out upright. You might be happier with Photobucket for posting your photos, it has the added benefit of allowing you to post an unlimited number of pics.

What a great new cage! Sounds like Benjamin is really appreciating his new digs:)
Hmmm...now you have an empty cage....
:)

See, now, that's one of those odd things...

That is a really, really nice dometop... (Bird, you should appreciate the nice things your people do for you!)

And occasionally, some birds actually don't like all that room. Seems to give them a feeling of safety. (Reverse Claustrophobia?!) That XL dometop, I would have thought would have been "the bomb."

My lilac crowned amazon, is the opposite. She hangs out inside Maggie's giant double macaw cage, in part because it's the biggest one in the house, and in part because she knows there's no way Maggie would voluntarily go inside the thing... In fact, Tusk and Lila use the inside of her cage more often than she has, even counting the times I've closed the door on her.

We had a plucker too that wanted nothing more than his raggedy old green cheek conure sized cage. It was a horrible cage, but he loved it. It was "the nest!" I started out placing him in a "normal" macaw sized playtop, and that was a VERY BAD IDEA... IT'S CHANGE - AND WE DON'T LIKE CHANGE!!! IT STRESSES US OUT COMPLETELY!!!

Why yes, that would be a really nice macaw cage woudn't it?!

Personally, you can't go wrong with a greenwing...

We sold the XL last week to a really great couple for their newest Macaw. They have a U2 and a blue Macaw as well. Benjamin's issue with it was that not only was it completely overwhelming in size but he couldn't be near us (me). He's been so happy in this room, right over my shoulder, just a few feet from my chair.

We're going to keep the old one just in case. I'm going to look at a Goffin in the next two weeks or so.

Birdman, I know! I was joking last night that he gets more fun stuff than our two dogs combined!

Thanks for the tip, Allee. The photo actually shows up great in my Gmail drive, but won't rotate correctly here. I'll try Photobucket. :)

I just fixed the title for you :).

No screws and bolts? What brand is that?

Beautiful cage!

**Julie**
I have an A&E cage that doesn't have any screws or bolts, instead it has plastic T things that everything slips into.

The old avian adventures cages were like that too... fold out the sides, and the dome tops had pegs on them that just sat in the little holes...

Featherland used to make folding cages, which I thought might come in handy...

I have a California Cage that is one piece too. It's 20 years old and I want to replace it. Too bad CC went out of business.

Even the newer Avian Adventures cages seem nice, but I don't like that they don't come in the black with silver vein color that I must have. All my cages have to be same color lol.

Thanks so much! Can you fix my Time-Warner internet? lol

It's Avian Adventure's Mediana dometop. Wayfair had it way cheaper than anyone else. It just goes together with tabs and slots. The doors used spring loaded locks you turn left to open, turn right to lock.

Now I am no IT person that's for sure, so wouldn't have a clue on your Time Warner Internet LOL! :p

Too bad Avian Adventures doesn't have "my" color. I guess I'll go with King's. I'm happy with Raven's new cage.
