Hi everyone!

I am 23 and have been parrot-obsessed since I was 10. For my 13th birthday I had my family take me to a parrot shop and continued to go on weekends in high school (cool kid!).

Conures (blue crowns specifically) have always captivated me. I finally convinced my parents to let me get a bird and I got an untamed budgie, "Kanoni". I earned the little bird's trust and the bird enjoyed my company, neck scritches, being handled, I was so proud of the work I put in with him. The sad part is I went to camp for 2 weeks and left the bird in my family's care...came back and he had passed away...I always just assumed it was from Teflon or air fresheners or something like that. I only had him for about a year.

Well, now I'm graduated from college and more stable and still have a great big cage that my little 15 year old self but down a couple hundred dollars on.

I've since volunteered at a couple parrot rescue orgs and have re-started my bird search. And completely filled my down time with bird research--again!!

I love bird people. We are a weird bunch. Can't wait to get back in the forum game. I used to go on these other 2 and I can't recall the names...feathered something....2 words beginning with f.

Anyway! Looking forward to keeping up on all things bird. Can't wait to have one of my own again.

Hi and welcome Sarah! You will find lots of information on this forum! (I know I have!) I have checked out a couple other forums and IMO this one is the best. Sorry to hear about your budgie...that must have been heartbreaking! So, what kind of bird do you think you would like?

Welcome! This is a wonderful forum and helped me A LOT!!! I started with one conure my husband bought on impulse, and now I have 5 little friends! I learned so much form the members and just reading the threads.

I hope you find your perfect bird! Welcome to the flock!

Hi Sara, welcome aboard!

Hello Sarah and welcome!
I am so sorry for your loss of Kanoni:(
I am happy you are now deciding on which feathered friend to get. Volunteering at a rescue is a great way to learn about the different kinds of birds:)
Glad you joined us!
