Does anyone use room heaters in a room with your birds? I need one for a small room, add they are in my bedroom, that is safe and preferably temp control. The room is closed when I'm not home so it had to be safe.

What do you recommend/use? I'm getting conflicting answers

Ceramic and oil heaters are usually safe. It is a good idea to email the manufacturer to ask them if it is bird safe when you decide on a model. I bought an electric one a couple years ago, and then called, and it was not bird safe because of teflon:(
PTFE can be present as well.

I currently have a Lasko ceramic heater. It doesn't contain Teflon but it does say on the website it could possibly be harmful to birds. I don't trust some of those companies out there so I figured I'd see what others have and get that lol

Hmm, good to know. I hadn't heard of a ceramic not being safe.
I ended up not needing a heater, but I'm sure that the people who do have one will chime in soon:)

Just curious... Are you sure you need a heater? Birds adapt very well to temps (within reason).

My bird room gets cold in the winter. I've used a ceramic heater since bringing Kyo home and have had no problems. It stops running when the room hits a certain temp (I have it set to 21 degrees) and never any issues.

I'm not so worried about the birds not being warm enough, due to my rats wet keep the house at a nice 72 degrees Fahrenheit(give or take a few) year round, but I have Fibromyalgia and the cold bothers it. So I keep a heater in my room at 75. My room is also the end of the house so it's colder by about 3 degrees in the winter. So without one, even with the central heat in the house, my room is chillier. Add that to the fact when I'm not home my door is closed and it can drop 5 degrees :/ my Lasko has a set temp on it so it will keep the room at whatever I set.

Does anyone have experience with the heating panel, that your can buy to attach to the cage they can cuddle to? I'm thinking if I get a heating blanket for me and one of those for the birds if it gets chilly they can cuddle up to it.

You want to make sure to be careful to not put it too close to the cage so they can reach it and chew on it ~you wouldn't want them to get electrocuted [emoji33]

I use an oil heater, the ones that turns off at a certain temp and if it falls it turns off. It's in my bedroom, which the birds don't live in, though they do visit.
