So i was out and about today , heard macaws , and asked who has parrots? The land owner directed me down a dirt road to a parrot sanctuary. it's only about 1 mile from my house. The folks there have taken an old nursery and built large flight pens for their birds. It;s very nice and i wish i could keep my birds like they keep theirs. There's a macaw flight(maybe 20'x 40' and 15' tall that has about 12 macaws. A amazon flight the same size with 8-10 zons and 1/2 dozen toos. A conure pen (same size with god knows how many conures. They have 105 parrots and i didn't get to see them all. They rely on volunteers for help and i have signed up. I'm more to help with large projects than the everyday stuff but i'm sure i can be an asset to the ladies who run the place. I found them while out collecting natural , native , wild growing parrot food and dropped off a large box of food. They where very happy to have healthy ,free parrot food. I asked the manager to join our forum but she doesn't have much free time. check out birdsofparadisesanctuary.com if you have the chance, They seem to be on the up and up and i will be helping them out as i can. BTW i fell in love with a hen Pan Zon they have. The birds are all flighted and in large outdoor flights. How cool. For sure a 1st class operation.

How heartening to hear of such a nice place, doing such good work - and so close to you too! I bet you're going to be a great asset to them!

that is GREAT!....and only a mile from your home, wow.
they are going to LOVE you, sound to me like it's a win win for everyone!

That's pretty awesome! I wish we have a place like that here....

Wow Hen, thanks for posting that, it's so nice to get some good news. I have one question though, were you able to hear the parrots from a mile away? Imagine a cage big enough for flighted macaws and amazons! I'd love to see something like that.

Are they tax exempt? Do they take donations? Is so, is it permissible to list the contact info on this site?

how cool I wish i could find a place like that near me I wanna see pics when you go again!!

yes they are a 501C sanctuary. And need donations to feed the birds.

Wow! That's awesome!!! Man, I wish that there was something like that close to me! They get a gold star for taking such good care of their birds!
