How bad does a bite have to be before you take yourself to a doctor? Quee got me but good today when I was stupid enough to try and put something in her cage while she was inside eating. I have a decent sized angular hole in the flesh between my first two fingers--she got the knuckle, and seems to have done a number on the nerves. Anyway, I've filled the hole with neosporin and bandaged the fingers together, but do you think I have to worry about infection? Translate: do I have to go to the doctor tomorrow? I'm hoping one of you will have the miracle remedy alternative.

if its not getting any better in the next day or so i may.just depends on you to...wait a day or a couple of days...in see how it heals up.

I agree. It's probably a wait and watch thing unless it needs stiches, but most likely to late for those anyway. Hope it heals up sooner rather than later!

I'm actually more upset about the fact that the incident set Queequeg back a few steps in the trust department-she flares now when I come near the cage. Makes me sad. Oh well-- I'll sing her songs from a distance and wait for her to forgive me. Meanwhile I have very sore knuckles.

Sorry to hear you got a nasty bite from Queequeg :( Just keep putting antiseptic cream on the bite and it should heal ok!

I agree with Wendy. Antiseptic cream, antibiotic ointment, keep it clean and dry for a couple of days.

Of course that is providing the bleeding has stopped. :11:
If it's throbbing, warm saltwater baths with some Peroxide will help with pain. After that keep it dry and as sterile as possible.

Good luck, and so sorry for the setback. :20:

Thanks for the tips, everyone!
