Hey all!
I adopted a turquoise conure about a year ago to join my flock. She’s been doing well (aside from hormonal bouts, she’s gotten very nippy in the last month) and I noticed she has some new feathers around her beak that are very dark in colour. She doesn’t have feathers like this anywhere else, but two spots on each side of her beak.
The coloration caught me off guard a bit as it seemed to suddenly appear, and I cannot find any other conure with such colours around their face. Is this okay? I read that dark coloration might be a dietary issue. She gets a mix of seed and pellets and whatever fruit/veggies I am having that day, usually peppers, berries and sometimes some lettuce. She also gets a pistachio during training.
I believe the second photo is when I first got her (no black feathers) and the first and last are the odd colours.
