Two parakeets.
I've had a new 1-2 year old parakeet for a year now and for the past few months he's had a black splotch on the middle of his beak.

He's acting normal and energetic, and doesn't hesitate to eat and drink, and his droppings are normal.

Here's his diet:

Bird seed
Grated carrots
Melon (occasionally)
Lettuce
Whole wheat bread
Grass

My grass isn't sprayed with pesticides, and they don't often get wheat grass from the stores.

His water is clean, too. And he has a mate that eats and drinks he same exact thing but has a normal beak.

It's also not an injury, and the inside of his mouth is normal (I checked). Any ideas as to what this could be?

Could you post a photo? It sounds like a bruise, if so it will probably take several weeks before the beak's natural growth makes the spot disappear. Another possibility is a diet deficiency, that sometimes happens with an all seed or mostly seed diet. Have you ever offered pellets to your budgies?
