Parrots
I once had a Blue Front Amazon for 12 Years.
In search of an African Grey.
Good Day;
My name is Judy Johnson and I reside in Brooklyn, New York. I love Parrots!!
I once had a blue fronted amazon parrot. I was the fourth owner of TK. (Thomas Kelly Johnson)
When I brought TK from the third owner I was told he was old. TK brought many years of happiness to me and my young son.
When I brought TK he was untrained and had the behavior of a parrot that was mistreated and possibly abused, but I worked with him, read books to him, played soft music for him, through kisses to him. He calmed down with me and learned to sit on my shoulder, shared treats with me, kiss me as was as made the sound of kisses back. He learned to talk, dance and whistle.
TK had his own room filled with toys, TV, radio and his own record player.
God blessed us to have him for 12 Years. The day came when TK stopped eating. TK's Dr. was on vacation during this time and was out of the Country.
I took him downtown Brooklyn to an Avian Dr. They kept him over night.
They ran test and told me he was old. I refused to believe that it was because he was old. I then took him to another Avian Specialist upper Manhattan. They admitted him into the Hospital. I took time of from work and was with him from morning to night. My son would join me after work. My TK passed away 1+1/2 weeks later. He learned to love me and I him. I had an autopsy done on him. He died from heart complications, but he wasn't a boy....he was a girl! Most girls love females but is aggressive with men. July 2nd, 2018 will be 5 Years now since my TK passed. Tk was buried in SC.
I can still hear him calling me. MoM!:green:

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome aboard, Judy. A poignant first post, my condolences for your loss of TK. Parrots find a way into our hearts and never leave.

Perhaps one day you'll adopt another Blue Front or other species?

Welcome and be welcomed. I hope you might be open to another adoption some day, there are so many parrots that need loving homes likes yours was to TK.

The love of a rescued Amazon is so deep and leaves one longing for them when they cross-over. We have rescued older Amazons for many years and have been Loved by them. Being owned by an Amazon is a truly wonderful thing, and she clearly Loved you. Thank-you, for being with her when she passed. She knew she was loved and that brought her much contentment.

Years ago, we found that truly loved Amazons, when they build their place in our hearts, near always take the time to include room for another. I know not the reason, but clearly they do. The pain of the loss never leaves, but neither does the joy of being loved by an Amazon.

When your heart and mind are ready, know that she would joyfully approve.

Welcome to Parrot Forums and the Amazon Forum, a place where Amazon's Rule! FYI: Take the time to read both of the two Threads at the top of the Amazon Forums (highlighted in light blue) and as you do, see those things that you two had found and shared together.

Take comfort in your Amazon speaking softly within you ear. Comfort and Warm Feather Hugs from all of us, as we understand your loss.
