Bought a new cage, is this safe? <Pics>

Fiance recently bought this cage, we were hoping to have it for his bedtime cage. But we are worried about our GCC chewing on the wood. Is this safe?

IMHO those cages may make nice decorative pieces, but I would never put a bird in one. Again, just my opinion.

I would be afraid to use it for a bird as well. If I'm seeing it right, the way the bars meet at the top are a hazard for a bird getting stuck.

This is one of those that I was talking about on another thread that I think they make for home decor. Pretty, but not a real bird cage
