So while considering an Eclectus, I have been researching breeders. Im having a hard time finding one that I like (except for one in Australia :( ). I live in Nebraska, and am more than willing to travel. I have also looked up rescues, however I cant find any in my state. The majority of the rescue groups wont adopt out unless its their state, which I understand.... Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks :)

Most of the breeders I know of in Amerca are located on otherside of country. You could check out one of the small-size international breeders who can bring him/her.

The other one you may wish to consider, is locate an avian specific (or exotic petstore) as these often have contacts for breeders and could even special order one for you.

With the last option, you may have to wait a few months. I contacted my local one and their chosen breeder had just had one hatched, but I couldent be any happier now that I have Echo home and he is as tame as I could have hoped. Just be certain you do some research on whichever breeder / source you choose.

Maybe check out Black Hills Parrot Welfare. Is that anywhere near where you live? Looks like they are a neat organization that may be able to do some referals for you?

There is a nice breeder in Atlanta, she has a wealth of information. She has always been nice to me she even calls me to check on my girl and gives me tips and pointers. I didnt even get my girl from her she was referred to me, by a friend I was going to get a another and she has female SI and redsided and the VOS babies but she thought best if i get an older male not another female.

I felt that she told me straight like it was not BSed so she could get a quick buck, as i said she didnt sell me a bird and sent me so many emails on eclectus diet and all sorts of stuff..

Sounds awesome. Can you send me her info?

Has anyone heard of Austral eclectus? I really like what I see on the website....
